Our Mission

Transforming Philadelphia Through Health, Science, and Sport

SportzHealth PBC is a Pennsylvania Public Benefit Corporation established to improve community health outcomes across Philadelphia through the integration of sports medicine, preventive healthcare, biotech workforce development, and youth athletic programming.

As a Public Benefit Corporation, SportzHealth is legally obligated to generate measurable public benefit alongside any financial performance. Our corporate charter binds us to a dual mission: sustainable operations and transformative community impact in the neighborhoods that need it most.

Our primary focus areas are the underserved communities of North and West Philadelphia — neighborhoods historically impacted by disinvestment, health disparities, and limited access to quality employment. We serve youth ages 8–24, returning residents, and unemployed and underemployed adults seeking pathways into the growing life sciences sector.

By anchoring our programming at the Budd Bioworks campus in North Philadelphia and partnering with the City of Philadelphia, we create a unique ecosystem where world-class biotechnology training, community health services, and youth development converge to build lasting opportunity.

SportzHealth PBC

Health, Workforce & Youth Programs — the operating entity delivering community programming, workforce training, and sports medicine services.

Budd Bioworks

450,000 sq ft cGMP Life Sciences Campus on Fox Street in North Philadelphia — the physical anchor for workforce training and community health services.

City of Philadelphia

Municipal support including zoning facilitation, infrastructure investment, public funding streams, and cross-agency partnership coordination.

The Budd campus is a 37-acre former industrial site — once home to the Budd Company, shuttered in 2003 — now being redeveloped by Plymouth Group as the anchor of Philadelphia's growing life sciences sector. Located just 15 minutes from University City with direct SEPTA access, it represents one of the largest life sciences redevelopment opportunities on the East Coast.

Biotech Workforce Pipeline

SportzHealth PBC + Budd Bioworks

On-campus credentialed certificate and apprenticeship programs in cGMP manufacturing, quality assurance, lab operations, and bioprocessing. Priority enrollment for North & West Philadelphia residents, returning citizens, and veterans.

Community Health Programming

SportzHealth PBC + City of Philadelphia

Free and subsidized sports medicine clinics, injury prevention screenings, and preventive care at the Budd campus community space. Chronic disease prevention — obesity, diabetes, hypertension — in partnership with local FQHCs and behavioral health providers.

Reducing preventable ER visits across target zip codes

Youth Sports & Athletic Development
